What our graduates say about St. Vincent's:

  • Kyla Lappo - "Thank you for such a great start. I don't think I would be where I am today if it wasn't for St. Vincent's."
  • Steve Grossman - "My time at St. Vincent's really helped me grow as a person and gave me a great foundation for the rest of my education."
  • Jordan McCune - "I visited the campus this summer. It was great to see all of the old classrooms, but the new building is amazing! I really hope the best for SVES, because I know I personally took so much from there."

Alumni Focus: Manuel Veyna III

I attended St. Vincent's for several years throughout my younger elementary years. I remember I was a very quiet child and always kept to myself. Being at St. Vincent's helped me grow into the man I am today. I was instilled with principles I live by to this day.

I remember attending church every day of the week and even on the weekends. My fondest memory of St. Vincent's was 2nd grade, Mrs. Gunther's class. She drove a pretty awesome red sports car at the time so I always liked her. She made class very interesting and easy to learn. My favorite subject I know for a fact was Math and my least favorite subject was Social Studies. I believe the strong learning enviroment at St. Vincent's really helped me appreciate the education I was receiving which has impacted my life to this day. My time at St. Vincent's helped build a mentality in me, a mentality to succeed in life and make a difference for the better in this world.

As of now I am 19 years old, I graduated a semester early from South Grand Prairie High School in 2009 in the top 10% of my class. I was Vice-President of DECA my sophomore year, President of DECA my junior year, a Student Council Representative all 4 years throughout high school, nominated into Leadership Class with the SGP Executive Board junior year, and became a Great Texas Scholar my senior year. I was accepted at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas where I received a full tuition scholarship for academics. My major is Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. During my first semester of college I rushed greek life joining the #1 social fraternity on campus, Pi Kappa Alpha AKA PIKE. I also made the Dean's list my first semester here at SHSU with a 3.5 GPA. I plan on graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Psychology and go on to Law School at SMU Law in Dallas.

St. Vincent's was a great school and I was lucky to be able to go there. I wouldn't be where I was to this day if it wasn't for my dad Manuel Veyna Jr, my sister Brittany Lynn Veyna, and the guidance I got from the SVES faculty growing up.
