Educating Mind, Body, and Spirit in the Anglican Tradition
Founded in 1963, St. Vincent's has educated students in the Episcopal tradition of academic excellence for over four decades.
The school provides a unique educational experience in an intimate atmosphere that will challenge and nurture your child academically, physically, and spiritually.
The roots of Episcopal, or Anglican, education reach back several hundred years to the academic communities of England.
The tradition of academic excellence, paired with the traditions of the Episcopal Church, arrived in the United States shortly after its founding, with the first Episcopal Schools established in 1775.
Episcopal Schools have been educating our country's leaders for over 300 years.
St. Vincent's is honored to follow in this tradition.
St. Vincent's School welcomes students from all religious backgrounds.
Grounded within the great educational tradition of Anglican Christianity, St. Vincent's is intentional about helping each student cultivate his or her spiritual life.
Our goal is to produce graduates who will honor their Creator, not only with well-developed minds and bodies, but also with the choices they make in their lives.
Every school day our students encounter the Good News of Jesus Christ in morning chapel.
While participating in chapel, students hear readings from Holy Scripture, sing hymns of praise to God, receive religious instruction from our clergy and lay ministers, and develop a custom of daily prayer.
But spiritual development at St. Vincent's does not stop at the doors of the chapel.
Our faculty strives to model love and care in their interactions with students and each other; and students are encouraged to strive for the highest ethical standards in the classroom.
As a result, in addition to receiving an education of the mind and body of the finest quality, SVCS students also develop the spiritual and moral character one expects of society's future leaders.
The members of the faculty at St. Vincent's are certified, experienced, creative, and serve as role models for our students.
They are caring professionals who are committed to developing each student to his or her potential.
With St. Vincent’s excellent student teacher ratios - 12:1 in the Lower School and 16:1 in the Upper School - teachers are able to challenge, support, and know each student.
At all levels, St. Vincent's academic programs are built upon well-rounded, challenging, college preparatory curriculum that begins in the Early Childhood Program and culminates in the eighth grade.
The core curriculum is enriched by classes in the Fine Arts, technology, foreign language, and physical education.
From hands-on exploration of the basics in the Lower School to advanced classes for the Upper School, students develop strong study ethics that will prepare them for the challenges they will meet in all aspects of life.
The Episcopal tradition of service to others is fostered at all levels by community service performed on or off campus.
A curriculum guide is located under Academics.
Athletics is an important component of school life at St. Vincent's.
The teamwork learned on the playing field translates directly to the teamwork needed in the classroom and in life.
The school has a variety of athletic opportunities available for every student. More details on the programs are found under the Athletics heading.
Extra-curricular activities abound at St. Vincent's, including, but not limited to, the following: Junior Council, Student Council, Spelling Bee, PSIA Academic competitions, Chess Club, National Junior Honor Society, and tennis lessons.
St. Vincent's administers the Stanford Achievement Test as a gauge of our students' academic progress.
The student body's composite score on this nationally ranked test is at the 87th percentile.
Over 50% of the students in the fourth grade and up qualify for the Duke Talent Identification Program each year.
The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools accredits St. Vincent’s; the National Association of Independent Schools and the Texas Education Agency recognize this accreditation.
The admissions policy of St. Vincent's Cathedral School is non-discriminatory as to race, color, religion, and national or ethnic origin, with all students enjoying equal rights to the programs and activities available.
